Samsung is holding the wider standard Fold at $1,899 starting — actually $100 below the Fold 7 launch price — while pushing the Fold 8 Ultra to $2,099 with a 200MP main camera and dedicated telephoto lens. The gambit: give mainstream foldable buyers a redesigned shape at a slightly friendlier price, and reserve the maxed-out camera package for anyone willing to pay Ultra money. 2. US pricing. The $1,899 and $2,099 figures come from South Korean retail sources and converted regional pricing. US launch prices could differ, especially with the memory chip shortage still pushing component costs up across the industry.
3. Regulatory gap. The standard wide Fold 8 (model SM-F971U) does not yet have an FCC filing on record, per Android Authority. The Fold 8 Ultra appeared in Bluetooth SIG certification, and the Z Flip 8 in FCC records, but the wide model’s regulatory status remains unresolved eight days before launch.
